Yuba Bharati Stadium Messi Incident: The controversy surrounding Lionel Messi’s visit to Kolkata and the chaotic situation at the Yuba Bharati stadium has taken a new turn. A representative of Messi’s team has directly emailed the Bidhannagar Police Commissioner, blaming the then Sports Minister Arup Biswas for the Yuba Bharati incident last December. The email sent by the man who was present as Messi’s advisor on the ‘Goat Tour’ last December has now sparked a stir in political and administrative circles
What is written in the email?
The charge sheet clearly states that the trouble at Yuva Bharati that day started after former minister Arup Biswas entered the field. Directly mentioning Arup’s name, Messi’s team told the police commissioner that the behavior and activities that the former minister started after entering the field were not at all in line with the predetermined schedule. This does not end here, the email also gives a detailed description of how Arup Biswas’s ‘excessiveness’ exceeded the limits of decency. The email mentions that Arup Biswas was repeatedly touching Messi outside the scheduled schedule. The world-winning star was annoyed and uncomfortable with the way he was touching Messi’s shoulder and waist to take pictures. In addition, concerns were expressed about Messi’s safety and said that although according to the rules, only three official photographers were supposed to be on the field, about 40 people entered the field under the influence of Arup Biswas, which took the situation out of control.
This extreme chaos and violation of personal space made Messi extremely upset and he had deep doubts about his own safety. And because of this, Messi could not stay at the event for even a moment longer due to lack of security and was forced to leave the field. The most significant thing is that the organizer, Satudru Dutta, has been given a clean chit in this e-mail. Messi’s team has made it clear to the police that the main organizer of the event, Satudru Dutta, had no control over this unpleasant situation. The entire system was ‘hijacked’ due to political power. As a result, Satudru is in no way responsible for Messi leaving Yuva Bharati long before the time. According to Satudru Dutta’s lawyer, this e-mail from Messi’s team can bring a major twist in the ongoing police investigation.
Messi case in court
On the other hand, the court battle has also taken a new turn following the controversy on the field. Shatdru Dutta, who made explosive allegations against Arup Biswas in the Messi case, has now filed a new case directly challenging the former minister’s legal ‘protection’. Last Tuesday, Shatdru Dutta’s lawyer Arindam Jana drew the attention of the Division Bench of the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. According to court sources, the Division Bench of the Chief Justice has already allowed Shatdru to file this case and there is a possibility of hearing the case this week. Earlier, former Tollygunge MLA and then minister Arup Biswas approached the court to avoid arrest after an FIR was filed at the police station. A single bench of Justice Saugata Bhattacharya of the Calcutta High Court granted legal protection to Arup Biswas from arrest. However, the court had clearly ordered that Arup should fully cooperate in the investigation and the Bidhannagar Police Commissioner was ordered to conduct an independent and impartial investigation.
