Abhishek-Kunal Fight: Amidst the organizational reshuffle in the Trinamool Congress, a dramatic situation arose around the party’s working committee meeting in Kalighat on Saturday. Various reports have claimed that Abhishek Banerjee and Kunal Ghosh got into an argument over a difference of opinion on an organizational issue during the meeting. Although it was initially at the discussion stage, it later escalated into a heated exchange of words.
It is learnt that Kunal Ghosh advocated for the immediate implementation of an important decision of the organisation. But Abhishek Banerjee was in favour of considering the matter later. Kunal objected to this position and expressed his anger. After this, tension started rising between the two sides and the atmosphere of the meeting became uncomfortable for some time. Later, the report claimed that Mamata Banerjee herself stood up and handled the situation. In this meeting, several changes were announced in the organisational structure of the party. Kunal Ghosh has been given the responsibility of the president of the North Kolkata organisational district. Arnab Banerjee has become the president of the youth organisation. Along with this, senior MP Saugata Roy has also been included in the working committee.
It is learnt that Abhishek opposed Kunal’s statement made in the media about Abhishek’s assistant Sumit Roy. In this context, Kunal said that Sumit is not from the party, so he has no responsibility to speak on behalf of Sumit. Later, Kunal also informed Mamata that he cannot say anything positive on behalf of Sumit. At this time, senior MP Kalyan Banerjee also stood up to reduce the tension. It was claimed that the sound of shouting could be heard even outside the house. After the meeting, no one from the Trinamool opened his mouth about the argument between Abhishek and Kunal.
When Kunal demanded that the party take immediate action on an issue related to organizational changes, Abhishek said, ‘We will see about it later.’ Kunal said to Abhishek, ‘Don’t make a lemon sour.’ After that, the argument started. Later, at one point, Abhishek said to Kunal, ‘You have made negative statements about Sumit Roy in the media, and you have also said about me.’ Kunal said, ‘I have given it a hundred times. Sumit is not from the party. I cannot defend him. But I did not say anything about you.’ Later, Mamata Banerjee came up and said, ‘Now we have to work with a cool head.’ Along with Mamata, Kalyan Banerjee handled these two people.
