Indian student gets Oxford scholarship: As the saying goes, ‘The first step to success is failure.’ If you have determination and a steady goal, no obstacle will stand in your way. A young woman from India has proven it once again. Her name is Vaishnavi Ramalingam.1 She. However, the path to success was not smooth at all. Before this huge success, Vaishnavi had to face rejection after rejection for eight months. But she did not give up. And that is what made her successful.

Vaishnavi is overwhelmed with excitement.

Vaishnavi could not contain her emotions after hearing the news of this success. She shared a video on Instagram and expressed her feelings. There she wrote, ‘Just think, for eight months straight, I got only rejections from all the places I tried. And the thing I had the least hope for (but wanted the most in my heart) and almost didn’t want to apply for, came true in my life! Words cannot express how I felt after reading the email.’

What message did Vaishnavi give?

He added, “The universe itself makes a way for you.” Under Vaishnavi’s post, not only ordinary people but also the official handle of Oxford University itself commented, “Congratulations! Welcome to Oxford.”

From Pune to the Netherlands – Where do you study?

Vaishnavi is the first graduate in her family. She completed her BA LLB Honours from Symbiosis Law School, Pune. She then pursued an Advanced LLM in International Child Rights from Leiden University, Netherlands, with a Leiden University Excellence Scholarship (LExS).

Vaishnavi says, “When there is no guide or specific roadmap in the family, it feels very lonely to walk alone in a new place. It seems that others have so much information and opportunities that are completely new to me. But the contribution of the professors at Leiden University in this journey of mine is undeniable. They were the first to recognize my inner talent and encouraged me to apply to Oxford.”
